Buying Guide for Kurt Adler 12 Miniature Pine Tree

Introduction

The Kurt Adler 12 Miniature Pine Tree is a delightful addition to your holiday decor. Perfect for tabletops, mantels, or any small space, this unlit miniature tree features 125 tips, offering a full and lush appearance. This guide will help you select the perfect miniature pine tree for your Christmas celebrations.

Consider the Size

The Kurt Adler Mini Pine Tree stands at 12 inches tall, making it an ideal choice for small areas. Before purchasing, measure your intended display space to ensure a perfect fit. Consider whether you want to place it on a table, shelf, or mantel, and make sure the dimensions align with your decorative needs.

Material Quality

This miniature Christmas tree is crafted from a combination of metal, plastic, string, and wood. These materials provide durability while maintaining a realistic appearance. Ensure that the materials meet your preferences for texture and quality. The combination of materials also ensures that the tree is lightweight and easy to move around.

Color and Aesthetic

The tree features a classic green color, making it versatile for various holiday decor styles. Think about the overall color scheme of your holiday decorations. The Kurt Adler Mini Pine Tree can blend seamlessly with traditional, modern, or rustic themes, so consider how it will fit with your existing decor.

Unlit Feature

This tree is unlit, which allows for a customizable decorating experience. If you prefer to use your own lights or decorations, this feature can be advantageous. Consider what type of lighting or ornaments you want to use. If you prefer a pre-lit tree, this might not be the right choice for you.

Weight and Stability

Weighing only 0.25 pounds, this tree is lightweight and easy to handle. However, consider how you plan to display it. If you are placing it in a high-traffic area, ensure that the base is stable enough to prevent it from tipping over. You may want to secure it with additional decorations or weights if necessary.

Recommended Uses

The Kurt Adler 12 Miniature Pine Tree is specifically designed for Christmas use. Think about where you will place the tree and how it will complement your overall holiday theme. It can be used as a centerpiece, on a side table, or even in children’s rooms to spread holiday cheer.

Opinions on these little trees are mixed, so I’ll clarify why they satisfy some people while disappointing others; it really depends on your expectations.

To be honest, this tree doesn’t exactly resemble the picture, although with some adjustment to the branches, you could probably get it close. The image shows a perfectly shaped tree, which is unrealistic in nature. If you plan to hang numerous ornaments, you may prefer a tree where all the branches on each level are the same length, which is not the case here, reflecting how trees grow in the wild. This tree features branches of various lengths, and the shorter branches that give it a realistic look are not long enough to hold or support ornaments, making it less suitable if you want to decorate with more than a few small decorations.

The tree is produced by Kurt Adler, a company I find produces high-quality Christmas decorations. It’s clearly designed to mimic a real tree, with natural imperfections, and it accomplishes this quite well. The longer branches provide shape, while the shorter branches fill in gaps, contributing to its bushy look. Unlike many artificial trees, the short branches effectively hide the artificial trunk, preventing you from seeing through them. A particularly nice detail is the varied color of the “needles,” some of which have a brownish tint, resembling a genuine tree. Overall, it’s about as close to a real tree as you can get in a small, affordable option. The faux wooden trunk at the base looks very convincing and is a significant improvement over the unsightly plastic tripods that take up space and are hard to conceal. However, while tripods offer more stability, these smaller trees can be easily knocked over. If the trees will be frequently bumped, they may not be the best choice. That said, a small collection of these trees in different sizes creates a lovely effect, especially when surrounded by artificial snow.

  2. Barefoot

I anticipated this would be lightweight and thin, which would have been fine for my intended use. However, the “wood” base is incredibly flimsy and may not even be real wood, making it unsustainable. The burlap around the base has a wide weave and was frayed by half an inch all around. Additionally, the burlap was attached very poorly—one side was excessively high up the tree while the other was just an inch, resulting in an awkward appearance. The strings frayed from the burlap were scattered throughout the tree. It’s crooked and I couldn’t get it to straighten out completely. I’ll wait until next fall to find a better option elsewhere!

Opinion seems to be divided on these little trees, so I’ll try to make clear why they meet some people’s expectations and are disappointing to others; it all depends on what you wanted.

Admittedly, this tree doesn’t look exactly like the picture, although if you fiddled with the branches long enough, you could probably get pretty close. The picture is of a perfectly shaped tree, the kind you don’t see in nature. If you want to add a lot of ornaments to your tree, you might want a tree where the branches on each level are all the same length – which is not the case here and, again, not how nature makes trees. The are several sizes of branches on this tree, and the short branches that give this tree its lifelike appearance are not long enough to attach or support ornaments – so if you’re intending to decorate the tree with more than a few small ornaments, it wouldn’t be your best choice.

The tree is made by the Kurt Adler company which, in my experience so far, makes Christmas decorations of very good quality. This tree has obviously been intended to look real, with the imperfections of a real tree, and it accomplishes that very well. The long branches, which give the tree its shape, are interspersed with short branches (as in a real tree) that fill in the spaces and give the little tree its bushy appearance. Unlike many artificial trees, the short branches provide good camouflage so that you can’t see through them to the artificial “trunk” they’re attached to. A particularly nice touch is the varied color of the “needles”, some of which are brownish, like the branches of a real tree. The overall look is about as close to an actual tree as could be achieved in an inexpensive small tree. The faux wooden tree trunk at the base is completely convincing looking, and a great improvement over those nasty plastic tripods that take up lots of space and are difficult or impossible to hide. The tripods, however, give a tree more stability and these small trees are easier to knock over. If your trees will be subject to a lot of jostling, these might be a poor choice. That said, a little forest of varying sizes of these trees has a wonderful effect, especially surrounded by any sort of artificial snow.

What I got is NOT what is pictured. The photo shows an amazingly full tree that is beautiful. What I got was a scrawny thinned out tree. I am going to have to get a second tree to cannibalize to make mine fuller. DONT BE MISLED! You will not get a tree that looks like the picture.

i really needed to be reminded of 12 inches before i bought this.. lmao
Pretty small and not much you can do with it. too small for mini ornaments too

  6. Haley Parker

Very short but full enough. Cute “burlap” bottom.

I had high hopes for this little tree. I ordered a bunch of vintage 1/2″ shiny brite mini ornaments and lights to go on it. A mini star topper and garland. I thought they’d look great on the tree pictured in the ad.

But to my dismay, this thing looks like a Charley Brown Christmas tree on crack. After removing it from the bag I tried fluffing up the branches for over 1/2 hour and got nowhere. It’s impossible to make it look nearly as full as the one pictured. Some of the branches are way too short, especially in the middle, so it looks too narrow in spots no matter what you do. All the twisting, bending, and yanking in the world won’t help this thing.

If anyone has a link to the tree in the picture (I’ve seen this picture used in more than one ad on Amazon) please post it in the comments section. I don’t want my ornaments to go to waste.

  8. Haley Parker

Brief yet satisfying. Adorable “burlap” base.

When you open the package you say yourself oh my god what is this but I’m working with it and folding each branch and adjusting it. You get the cutest little tree it’s like perfect. It’s not sad. It’s not week or anything like that. It is a little tree that just needs to be decorated and it’s perfect. Absolutely perfect. If you’re looking for a stunning, elegant tree this isn’t it but if you’re looking for something cute and I’m small I would go maybe with tiny tree of selfish maybe about 16 or 17 inches then you have the base which brings it up to about 24 inches and you’ll yneed to get little tiny ornaments for it in order to dress it up. But if you’re looking for the oh wow look at this I made it look what you paid for it right so anybody looking for that stunning Better Homes & Gardens cover tree spend the money and get that I think it’s adorable I can’t wait to decorate it

Very cute little tree. The branches are full, evenly placed and with no empty areas. Great quality. I just love it!

Just what I was looking for- it is shorter than the advertised 12” as you can see with the picture but that’s actually better for my purposes. The base measures 3.25” width. It is very good quality- I was at two stores yesterday looking for something like this and nothing was as good of quality as this is. Dense and full after fluffing branches a bit. Very happy with purchase

This doesn’t even fit the category of a Charlie Brown tree. It looks like something that would be for sale at a dollar store and even then unlikely to be bought. We bought it because we are going on a cruise over Christmas and wanted a little tree we could take and decorate with a short string of lights. It isn’t even big enough for the tiniest string of lights. It wasn’t expensive so I’m not even going to bother to drive 40 miles to the nearest drop off to return it. It’s going in the trash. Useless.
